Research context

Sermorelin is a synthetic 29-amino-acid peptide corresponding to the biologically active N-terminal fragment (1-29) of human growth hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH). In vitro and in animal models it has been studied as an agonist at the GHRH receptor, a class B G-protein-coupled receptor on pituitary somatotrophs.

Studies in isolated pituitary cell preparations and rodent models have characterized its GHRH-receptor binding and the resulting adenylate cyclase and cAMP signaling. Analytical characterization has been carried out by reversed-phase HPLC and mass spectrometry.
