Research context

ARA-290 (cibinetide) is a synthetic 11-amino-acid peptide whose sequence is derived from the helix-B domain of erythropoietin, with molecular formula C51H84N16O21. In in-vitro and animal-model literature it has been described as a ligand for the innate repair receptor, a heteromeric complex of the erythropoietin receptor and the beta-common receptor (CD131), reported not to engage the classical erythropoietic EPO-receptor homodimer.

Research characterizing ARA-290 has examined receptor-binding and downstream signaling, including JAK/STAT-associated pathways, in isolated cell cultures, as well as tissue-response and behavioral readouts in rodent models of nerve and tissue injury.
